WHAT A PLEASANT SURPRISE.

20TH SEPTEMBER 2018.

This very day, the 20th of September 2018, this  woman you are staring at is +1.  Any plans for today? Any birthday bash or any form of celebrations? Some of my few friends and counterparts asked.’ Well’ I say ‘Nothing much. Actually I planned something different this year’. I told them.

The past years, all I do on my birthday is to take my kids and a few friends out for dinner. Sometimes, it could be at the Kilimanjaro close to my house or Genesis or even a local restaurant, all is dependent on the buoyancy of my time pocket and even my mood.

On this particular day, things took a dramatic turn. For in the past years, during my birthday, my sweet and loving husband was either in China, Germany or India on a business trip. But today as my alarm woke me up by 4am, my husband held me, kissed me deeply and lovingly and said ‘Happy Birthday My Love. Am happy am the first to wish you a happy birthday today’. He said looking at me so lovingly. I could feel his pure unalloyed an unadulterated love flow from his eyes to my whole being keeping me so warm and at the same time cool. ‘I Love You greatly dear’ he said to me.’ I love you so much too’. I responded equally.

‘You know I am just thinking of celebrating my birthday differently this year’ I told my husband. ‘How do you want it done’ he asked me. Can you order a cake for me against Sunday? Call Jennifer so that she can make a sizeable cake for me. I want to go to the prisons or motherless babies home on Sunday and celebrate my birthday with them.’ That will be nice’. My husband responded casually and changed the topic. Little did I know that my husband was planning a pleasant surprise for me, the first in so many years?

While in bed, we talked and joked and played as usual and we planned for the day.my husband and I are the best of friends. We talked and joked practically about anything. He is really fun to be with.

My husband was billed to travel to Abuja later in the day for his visa interview which will take place the following morning. His flight was scheduled for 4pm, so I helped him to pack. Before now I have assembled all the documents he needs to travel with.

Now the fun is over, and it’s time to go to work. We had our breakfast of oat and vegetable salad and off we go.

Normally anytime he is around, we go to work together. He either drives or I’ll drive. First he drops me off at my office before going to his own office which is not quite far from mine. But on this day. He went to his office with the excuse that  he has to pick something from there. I wondered why but said nothing. He wasted so much time that I began to disturb him. Finally, he was through with briefing his receptionist and we headed for my office. When we got there, he got talking with one of his customers who was waiting for him downstairs and I hurried up the stairs , opened the door to behold a wonderful and pleasant surprise. 16 0f my workers and a couple of my customers welcomed me with a birthday song.

My reception was decorated with balloons. A beautiful cake was sitting on the table starring beautifully at me.  I was overwhelmed with Surprise and joy.

Who did this? Who did this? Was all I could ask? So all of you conspired against me eh? Even you Rosemary I slapped her chick lovingly. Silly you, none of you called to tell me about this. I chartered on and on and on happy with what am being confronted with.

‘This woman here is my wife, my lover, my friend and my everything. I am proud to be called her husband. And before everyone present I want to tell her that I love her and will always do’ This is the voice of my husband professing his love for me when he was asked to propose a toast.

‘I toast to everlasting happiness, peace and more love’ he concluded. and we all eat and drank to our fill.  oh what a beautiful way of starting the day!

The rest of the day went well. My surprise birthday bash set a good tone for the day’s business. Business was supper good and I appreciate God for all his love and mercies.

HAVE A LOVELY DAY. LOVE YOU ALL.
